Kennesaw State University has been named a Military Support College of Distinction, making it one of only two institutions in Georgia to receive this recognition. The honor is given by Colleges of Distinction and highlights the university’s ongoing commitment to serving students connected to the military.

This new recognition follows KSU’s recent achievement of a Gold-level Military Friendly designation in 2024.

“We’re honored to receive this recognition, which is a testament to Kennesaw State’s ongoing dedication to help our veterans, service members and their dependents achieve their academic goals,” said Stacey Dixon, director of KSU’s Military and Veteran Services. “As KSU’s community continues to grow, so too does our help with veterans transitioning to civilian life.”

The university’s Military and Veteran Services (MVS) department has increased its support for military-connected students on both the Marietta and Kennesaw campuses. These services include academic advising, counseling, and other student resources.

Financial support for military-affiliated students at KSU is also growing. Scholarships provided through MVS are designed to cover gaps when education benefits run out before degree completion. This financial aid helps ensure that veterans can remain enrolled until graduation. Students can use the ScholarshipUniverse platform to find scholarships tailored specifically for veterans and their families.

KSU works with more than 20 local and national organizations to extend its impact beyond campus. The university is unique in Georgia as the only institution hosting a VetSuccess on Campus counselor, who offers guidance on benefits navigation, counseling, and career planning.

Colleges of Distinction assesses schools based on how well they meet the needs of military students in higher education. The evaluation focuses on institutional resources, flexible pathways, inclusive communities, and faculty awareness that contribute to military student success.
