Kennesaw State University alumnus Marc Feuerbach, who serves as superintendent of Cartersville City Schools, has been selected to represent Georgia for the National Superintendent of the Year award. The announcement will be made at the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) meeting in Nashville in February.

Feuerbach was recently named 2026 Superintendent of the Year by both the Georgia School Boards Association and the Georgia School Superintendents Association. He is now Georgia’s nominee for the national honor, which AASA will announce on February 12.

Since taking on the role of superintendent in 2018, Feuerbach has overseen improvements in graduation rates, community partnerships, and student support systems within Cartersville City Schools. His leadership has focused on innovation and building trust with students and families.

Feuerbach credited his education at Kennesaw State University as a key factor in his professional development. He earned a Master of Education degree from KSU’s Bagwell College of Education in 2007 and is a member of its Board of Visitors.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” he said. “My time at Kennesaw State University was instrumental in shaping my approach to leadership and education. The experiences and mentorship I received there gave me the tools to think critically, lead with purpose, and always keep students at the center of every decision.”

Traci Redish, associate dean for strategic partnerships and priorities at KSU’s Bagwell College of Education, commented on Feuerbach’s recognition: “Marc exemplifies the values we strive to instill in our graduates—innovation, integrity, and a student-first mindset. His recognition as Superintendent of the Year is a testament to his dedication and the transformative leadership he brings to his district and community.”

Feuerbach’s career includes more than two decades in education with experience as a special education teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent. He previously received awards such as GSSA’s President’s Award in 2022 and an Impact Award from the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber in 2019.
