Georgia Serves has announced the allocation of nearly $5 million in federal AmeriCorps funding to 17 organizations across Georgia for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The grants, totaling $4,951,957, will support approximately 613 AmeriCorps members who will address a range of challenges including education, economic opportunity, health, homelessness, disability support, and financial literacy.
The organizations receiving funding include Atlanta Police Foundation; Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta; Breakthrough Atlanta, Inc.; Communities in Schools of Georgia; Family Scholar House, Inc.; Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc.; Hands On Atlanta; Kennesaw State University Research and Services Foundation; New American Pathways, Inc.; One World Link, Inc. (for both Rural Georgia AmeriCorps Program and OWL Public Health AmeriCorps); Relay Graduate School of Education; Sewa International Inc.; Teach for America – Metro Atlanta; The Scholarship Academy, Inc.; and University of Georgia Research Foundation, Inc. (for both Georgia 4-H AmeriCorps Project and Georgia College Advising Corps).
AmeriCorps’ approach involves leveraging public funds to attract private sector and foundation investments. For this cycle in Georgia, approximately $3 million from private sources is expected to supplement the federal grants.
In addition to grant funding for organizations’ operations and member stipends, the Corporation for National and Community Service will provide more than $3 million in Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards for participating members. These awards can be used to pay for college or repay student loans.
Since its inception in 1994, over one million Americans have served with AmeriCorps nationwide. Collectively they have contributed more than 1.5 billion hours of service and earned over $3.6 billion in education scholarships—more than $1 billion of which has gone toward paying back student debt.
Full-time AmeriCorps members who complete their service term may receive an education award up to $7,395. Award amounts vary depending on the member’s status.
Each year about 75,000 AmeriCorps members serve at over 21,000 schools and nonprofit or community organizations across the United States. Their work ranges from disaster recovery to mentoring first-generation college students.
AmeriCorps is a federal agency that engages millions in national service through its programs including Senior Corps and leads volunteering efforts nationwide.
