The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has announced that its Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) program will end on June 30, 2026. The EHV program was created under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). DCA is among more than 600 Public Housing Authorities in the United States that manage this program.
According to DCA, HUD provided the final funding allocation for the EHV program in March 2025. This funding allows DCA to continue making Housing Assistance Payments (HAPs) for EHV participants until June 30, 2026. After this date, HAPs will stop and the contract between landlords and DCA will end. Any ongoing agreements between landlords and tenants will no longer involve DCA.
“The Emergency Housing Voucher program is the only program impacted. DCA’s regular Housing Choice Voucher program and other special voucher programs are not affected by these changes,” stated the department.
