Cobb County is moving forward with its annual review and update of local codes, a process aimed at ensuring that regulations remain effective, clear, and in compliance with current laws. The county conducts these updates regularly to keep up with changes in state law, best practices, and evolving community needs.
Officials say the regular revision of codes helps prevent outdated or conflicting rules and supports both residents and businesses. “This process also ensures that Cobb County remains aligned with state standards and requirements. By consistently adopting necessary updates, the County ensures consistency with Georgia’s laws, avoids potential conflicts, and maintains strong, reliable regulations that support safety, growth, and the quality of life in the community,” according to a statement from county officials.
The proposed code amendments will be presented during a Work Session scheduled for October 28 at 1:30 p.m. Public hearings on these amendments are set for November 12 at 9:00 a.m. and November 20 at 6:00 p.m., where residents can offer comments on changes affecting various chapters such as administration, animals, building regulations, environment, fire prevention, solid waste management, taxation, utilities, among others.
Following the second public hearing on November 20th, the Board of Commissioners will consider adopting the proposed amendments.
Recent data shows that Cobb County schools saw an enrollment increase of less than 0.1% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). During this period, total enrollment reached 115,076 students (https://www.gadoe.org/), with white students comprising about one-third of the student body (https://www.gadoe.org/).
