Cobb County Precinct 1, led by Major Mitchell, was honored with the Town Center Champion Award during the Town Center Community’s annual State of the District event on October 28. The award is given to individuals or organizations that represent the values of Town Center and have a lasting impact on the community.
The selection committee recognized Precinct 1 for its proactive leadership and strong community engagement. The precinct’s officers were commended for their consistent presence in the area, which has contributed to improved relationships and trust among residents and businesses. Their work has been seen as essential in maintaining safety and supporting growth within the district.
Tracy Styf, executive director of the Town Center CID, said: “They’re out in the community every day — engaging with residents and businesses, building relationships, and fostering a real sense of trust and connection. Their work plays an essential role in supporting the economic vitality of the district, helping make Town Center a place where businesses want to invest, employers want to grow, and families want to call home.”
Recent data shows that Cobb County schools saw an enrollment increase of less than 0.1% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). In total, there were 115,076 students enrolled across Cobb County schools in that period (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students made up about one-third (33%) of this student body during that time (https://www.gadoe.org/).
