Cobb County Government is organizing Cobb Cybersecurity Day 2025 on Friday, October 3, at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to residents, students, businesses, and community organizations.
The initiative is part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and aims to educate the public about current digital threats. Attendees can expect presentations by experts from local universities and industry leaders, as well as insights from Cobb County’s Technology-Based Crimes Unit. There will be sessions focused on protecting personal data, identifying cyber scams, and understanding how the county protects community information.
Students interested in cybersecurity careers will find resources available at the event. Additional features include a complimentary catered lunch and door prizes such as a YETI cooler and Surface Laptop for those who register and attend.
“Since 2004, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month has united public and private partners to raise awareness about cybersecurity and data privacy. This year, Cobb County is bringing that mission directly to the community with a day dedicated to education, prevention, and empowerment,” organizers stated.
They added: “As reliance on digital systems grows, informed individuals are the first line of defense. Cobb Cybersecurity Day is designed to give attendees the knowledge to protect themselves, their families, and their workplaces.”
Registration for the free event is encouraged but not required; however, only registered attendees are eligible for door prizes.
Cobb County schools had an enrollment increase of less than 0.1% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). In total, there were 115,076 students enrolled during that period (https://www.gadoe.org/), with white students comprising 33% of the student body (https://www.gadoe.org/).
