Amazon has announced an investment of $18.5 billion in Georgia since 2010, resulting in a $20.1 billion increase in the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and supporting over 78,000 direct and indirect jobs. This information was shared through a post on the company’s website.
According to Amazon, Georgia has emerged as a significant hub for its infrastructure, retail, and renewable energy projects. The state currently accommodates 22 fulfillment and sortation centers, 10 delivery stations, 12 Whole Foods Market locations, three Prime Now fulfillment centers, one Amazon Hub Locker+ site, and eight solar farms. This combination of logistics facilities and energy investments is said to strengthen Amazon’s supply chain while promoting local economic development.
The company further states that its investment in Georgia has directly resulted in the creation of 34,000 full- and part-time jobs as of January 2024. These positions include warehouse associates, drivers, engineers, and support staff roles that offer competitive pay and benefits. This makes Amazon a leading private-sector employer in the state.

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis input-output methodology was used to estimate these figures. In totality with direct employment figures included, Amazon’s presence is credited with creating approximately 78,700 jobs throughout Georgia.
